RETIREMENT INVESTING CREATES A WORLD OF COMFORTABLE RETIREES. And Schwab
gives 401(k) participants and the companies they work for an edge
in planning, saving, investing and tracking the progress of their retirement plan
assets. In 1999, 80 companies representing over 47,000 employees enrolled in SchwabPlan,
while our third-party recordkeeping partners brought another 107 companies to
Schwab. Our goal is to make it easier and less costly to run a retirement plan
and to help employees invest in their future. For the second year in a row, Schwab
garnered top awards in Plan Sponsor magazines Defined Contribution
Services Survey, receiving top rankings in seven of 11 categories. The way we
see it, retirement plan participants can never have too much information to guide
them. But the information does have to be well-organized and easy to navigate.
We redesigned our SchwabPlan Web Site www.schwabplan.com to
coordinate seamlessly with www.schwab.com and added customizable advice and investment
tracking tools. We also joined forces with Financial Engines, Inc., and mPower.com,
Inc., to help give SchwabPlan participants personalized recommendations on the
investments available through their respective plans. One of the biggest votes
of confidence we could receive comes from SchwabPlan participants who retire or
change jobs: nearly half of them put their balances into IRA rollover accounts
at Schwab.
