Schwab employees support their communities by organizing and participating in special fund-raising events, including walk-a-thons, cycling events and more.

Tour de Cure

Phoenix, AZ – Team Schwab riders turned out on a rainy Saturday morning for the Tour de Cure in Phoenix to help raise funds for the American Diabetes Association. For 2007, Team Schwab raised more than $19,635, beating the previous year's contribution by more than $5,000.

Richfield, OH – Riders met at the Blossom Music Center near Richfield for a Sunday ride in the valley with the Tour de Cure Rock 'n Ride. Ten Team Schwab members raised more than $3,330 for the American Diabetes Association, including proceeds from the Richfield office's bake sale.

San Francisco – For the seventh year, Team Schwab was the top fund-raising group in the Napa Tour de Cure, becoming the first team in Napa history to exceed $100,000.  With 162 riders and 13 volunteers, the Schwab team was the largest in an event that attracted more than 2,300 riders and 200 volunteers. The team included eight riders who each raised more than $2,100, qualifiying them for the "Champions for Diabetes" distinction. Team Schwab was also recognized for recruiting the most new riders, with 67. The first three riders to complete the 100-mile course were Schwab employees who finished in less than five hours.

Heart Walk

Indianapolis – Five people represented Team Schwab in the Heart Walk, raising $1,804 to benefit the American Heart Association.

Phoenix, AZ – Thirteen Phoenix employees raised funds for the Phoenix Heart Walk in multiple ways, including a bake sale, a spring training baseball ticket raffle, and donations in exchange for paper hearts, which were displayed in the cafe. They raised more than $2,300 for the American Heart Association.

San Francisco – Team Schwab included 122 walkers and raised nearly $30,000 for the American Heart Association.

Komen Race for the Cure

Indianapolis – More than 90 members of Team Schwab participated in the 16th annual Indianapolis Race for the Cure, raising more than $4,600 for the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

AIDS Benefit Events

California – Forty members of Team Schwab participated in AIDS/LifeCycle 2008, riding their bicycles 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The seven-day event included 3,000 participants and raised a record $11.6 million for HIV/AIDS service organizations in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Team Schwab raised more than $170,000.

San Francisco – Fifty-nine Schwab employees were among more than 25,000 walkers who participated in the AIDS Walk in Golden Gate Park. The 2007 event set a new fund-raising record by bringing in more than $4.5 million to benefit the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and 42 other Bay Area AIDS organizations. Team Schwab contributed almost $24,000.

Other Fund-Raisers

Denver – Nearly 150 Schwab employees turned out for Denver's MUDD Volleyball tournament, raising more than $9,000 for the March of Dimes. Schwab fielded 13 teams, making it the largest participant in the annual event.
Denver – Schwab sponsored a "Fourteener," a team to hike a 14,000-foot peak as part of Peak challenge 2007, an annual fund-raiser to benefit Griffith Centers for Children in Colorado.

San Francisco – Team Schwab paddled its way to 16th place out of 30 teams competing in the Novice Group at the 12th Annual Bay Area Dragon Boat Festival off Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay. The 26 Schwab employees braved a rainstrom on Saturdy morning and participated in three novice heats. Donations are used to maintain practice boats, paddles and safety equipment and to support ongoing education and outreach programs.

San Francisco – Twenty-two Schwab employees climbed 1,197 steps to the 52nd floor of 555 California Street in the second annual event for "Climb California"  to benefit the American Lung Association.

Volunteerism
