Barnaby Grist

Barnaby Grist is managing director of business consulting at Schwab Institutional®, the enterprise committed to helping independent investment advisors grow, compete and succeed. He primarily works with advisors who manage more than $1 billion in client assets, helping them identify strategic opportunities to grow their businesses and improve efficiency. 

Previously, he was vice president of strategic development and programs for Schwab Institutional, where he led the development of Schwab Advisor Transition Services.

Grist came to Schwab from the Boston Consulting Group’s financial services practice, where he worked extensively with Schwab and U.S. Trust. His experience in wealth management includes marketing and positioning, product and service offer and delivery, segmentation, pricing, human resources, back office operations and IT infrastructure. He has also served as an equity analyst in Lehman Brothers’ financial institutions group and previuosly worked at Oliver, Wyman and Company as a strategic consultant in the financial services industry.

Grist earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from Oxford University in England.
