James Sempere

James Sempere is managing director and head of real estate investment and research for Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. (CSIM). He has day-to-day responsibility for all of Charles Schwab’s real estate investments and research, and he sits on the Schwab Global Real Estate Fund Investment Committee.

Sempere has more than 25 years of experience in real estate investment, development, market analysis and the capital markets, providing services to both private and public clients. He joined CSIM in January 2007.

Previously he was the chief operating officer for Global Real Analytics, LLC, a leader in applied real estate and investment technologies. He had oversight for all of the firm’s operations including its sub-advisory and consulting roles for $2.5 billion in real estate assets under management, the production of the National Real Estate Index and the firm’s Advisory Services efforts.

Prior to joining GRA , Sempere held key positions with: Guggenheim Real Estate, the real estate investment arm of Guggenheim Partners; Ernst & Young, LLP’s Real Estate Advisory Group; Fidelity Management & Research Company; Coopers & Lybrand, LLP; and as vice president with the Henderson Group, a Boston-based urban planning and consulting firm.

Sempere earned his Master of Forest Science degree from Yale University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan.  He is a Counselor of Real Estate , a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and member of the Urban Land Institute.
