James Sun is managing director and responsible officer of Charles Schwab, Hong Kong, Ltd., overseeing Schwab's business in Asia. He is responsible for heading business development in Hong Kong and providing U.S. market investment services to Schwab clients.

 

He has appeared in multiple media outlets and has been a guest speaker on Asia-related topics at Columbia University and New York University.

 

Sun joined Schwab in 1998 and was previously a branch manager in New York. He provided financial planning and portfolio management to high-net-worth clients, helping develop an ethnic Chinese client base in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

 

After relocating to Hong Kong in 2004, Sun worked at HSBC Private Bank before rejoining Schwab as managing director for Asia.

 

Sun holds a Master of Business Administration degree in marketing and international business from University at Buffalo, New York, and is a graduate of Economics from Beijing International Studies University.

 

He serves on the board of directors for Chinese Finance, Investment & Business Society and is a member of the U.S. Financial Planning Association. Sun is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and holds Series 7, 9 and 10 licenses.
