Brian Bender

Brian Bender leads Workplace Financial Services and also serves on Charles Schwab’s Executive Council.
In his role, Bender is responsible for three businesses supporting employers and their employees: Designated Brokerage Services, which provides trade monitoring services; Schwab Retirement Plan Services, which administers 401(k), profit-sharing, defined benefit, and nonqualified plans; and Schwab Stock Plan Services, which offers a range of equity compensation and employee stock purchase plans. Collectively, these businesses serve 5,000 workplace plans representing more than $400 billion in client assets and approximately three million individuals. Bender was most recently Head of Schwab Retirement Plan Services.
Bender has more than 25 years of experience in financial services and began working with Schwab in 1997. Prior roles with Schwab include counseling individual investors in our Cincinnati branch, working as a relationship manager for corporate retirement plan clients, managing sales teams, and leading all of sales and service for Schwab Retirement Plan Services. He also spent two years working with Fidelity Investments, where he was responsible for business development in the Midwest.
Bender has a Bachelor of Science in finance and marketing from Miami University and has completed the Harvard Business School General Management Program. He holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 securities licenses. Additionally, since 2019 he has served as a board member for Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, Ohio.
