The Privilege of Service: Helping Clients Achieve Their Financial Goals

The Privilege of Service - Copy
Whether you are attending IMPACT® as an advisor, or joining us as an asset manager or technology provider, I find it inspiring that we can all come together each year with the common goal of making a positive impact on our clients’ financial lives.
Overseeing asset management at Schwab gives me a front-row seat to how our clients’ needs are evolving. The asset management industry continues to aggressively push down costs, creating a most favorable environment for clients who want to invest. At the same time, investors have never had more choices when it comes to investment products or solutions. The challenge for you is to help your clients navigate those choices while also facing a more volatile market environment. We know that clients don’t walk in your door and say they want to beat the S&P 500 by 25 basis points net of fees. They come to you for advice, share personal aspirations and fears, and expect you to help them get their financial lives in order. They still need to generate income for retirement, send their children to college, care for their aging parents, and plan for their financial futures—whatever that might mean. They turn to you to help them prepare for some of the most significant milestones in their lives, and that’s an honor.
So how can Schwab support you in helping your clients achieve the financial outcomes they want? We’re here to provide the building blocks and outcome-oriented solutions that can set your clients on the path that makes the most sense for them. From an asset management perspective, we know that there is no one-size-fits-all answer. While investors have benefited from low-cost passive products, we also know that active elements can help meet the complex needs that face your clients. As we look to the future, you can expect us to leverage our collective asset management capabilities—the combination of open architecture access, low-cost products, timely research, and packaged yet flexible solutions—to make a difference in the lives of individual investors.
It is both a great privilege and a great responsibility to be in the business of helping clients in their financial lives. I am thrilled that we are in it together.
