Moms hold a special place in our hearts, especially during challenging times like we’ve faced for more than a year. In honor of mothers everywhere, we sat down with a mother/son Schwamily to learn more about what it’s like to work together. Meet Monica and Danny.
Question: Happy Mother’s Day to you, Monica. Tell us about your background and what you do here at Schwab.
Monica: Thank you! Yes, I work as a senior client relationship specialist in our Paramus, New Jersey, branch. I’ve been with Schwab for about two years and I make sure our clients leave our branch with a smile after having a great experience with us.
I immigrated to the United States from Ecuador about 10 years ago with my son, Danny. I have years of experience in financial services, banking and business administration.
Question: Danny is with us today as well, good to meet you Danny. Tell us about your work with the firm.
Danny: Good to meet you, also. I became part of the Financial Consultant Academy here in Westlake, Texas, a little more than a year ago. When I joined, I’d just graduated from Penn State with a degree in economics. I heard about the FC Academy from my mom and it’s been a great start to my career.
Question: Monica, why did you want your son to join you here at Schwab?
Monica: I feel blessed and grateful to work at Schwab and I wanted my son to experience how fortunate we are by working here. The culture is something special and the potential growth is endless. It’s a rewarding job for me in so many ways, and I wanted to share that with Danny.
Question: That’s neat, Danny. What do you think about getting to work with your Mom?
Danny: My mom and I are very close, and we love working together. She’s been helpful, I can ask her questions, she’s helped me study for my licensing exams. We talk every day. I truly believe we are both very fortunate to be working for Schwab. And I’m extra grateful for my mom.
Question: Monica, you’ve raised a good young man! What do you want people to know about working at Schwab?
Monica: I just think people should know how much Schwabbies care about their clients and about each other. Especially over the last stretch, people have been through a lot and we’ve been able to help our clients, each other and at the same time we have received support and help from our leaders. That means a lot to me as an employee.
