It's a career path Melisa Benavidez never really expected to take. But nearly 20 years after she started at Charles Schwab in Indianapolis, she knows it was the right one to follow.

"It's been a company that has changed my life," says Melisa. "It changed my perception of life. I have had the chance to learn so much at Schwab."

It's that passion for learning that has led Melisa to success at Charles Schwab. She started as a customer service representative and has worked her way up through the organization, earning her master of business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University, and her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification along with her Certified Wealth Strategist® designation.

"It's one of the many reasons I always try to mentor others," says Melisa. "Schwab has given me so much. It's such an inspiring company. You feel really empowered when you work here. You feel like you're on top of the world."

These days, Melisa works as a senior team manager in Schwab Private Client™ overseeing teams that support clients in Chicago and Wisconsin. Melisa particularly enjoys working with women clients and feels that she's able to see things from their perspective as they negotiate life's changes and challenges.

Melisa also loves family life outside of work and enjoys cooking for them. She and her boyfriend, who also works at Schwab, love to travel to Mexico and go deep sea fishing.

"I chose Schwab. But really, I feel honored that Schwab chose me."
