We’re Invested in Giving Back

We’re invested in making a difference through our time, talents, and financial resources.

I started volunteering when I was 14 years old. I chose a life of service. When I came to Schwab, it was just natural for me to see where I could insert myself so that I could inspire and bring more people in so that we could help more people. I serve on boards. I continue with making my own personal donations to nonprofits that are very close to my heart.

Having the support of the leadership at Charles Schwab, to let me do that in such compelling ways that I'm getting goosebumps right now. Because there have been events where dozens of employees have raised their hands, showed up and delivered in the communities in the best possible ways.

Volunteering makes me feel like I'm going to change somebody's life. It's just who I am. I think that there are a lot of people like me at Schwab. We help each other. We lift each other. We inspire each other. And it doesn't matter what we look like, what we sound like, who we are like. We just do it because humanity.

Coming together for good

Schwab fosters strong communities by committing our time, talent and financial resources to make a difference in the places where we live and work. We support a wide range of nonprofits and community service programs that enable Schwabbies to give back to the causes that matter most to them.

We are proud to be an honoree of The Civic 50 from Points of Light, which has recognized us as one of the 50 most community-minded companies in the country every year since 2017.

Our spirit of service

In 2023, we celebrated 20 years of Schwab Volunteer Week, our flagship employee volunteer event.

While Schwabbies have been volunteering and giving back to our communities since our founding, we formalized our annual volunteer event in 2004 as a single day of service with just over 1,000 employee volunteers serving 37 nonprofits.

Since then, Schwab Volunteer Week has grown, and in 2023 more than 8,250 employee volunteers completed nearly 700 projects benefiting nearly 400 nonprofits nationwide. Charles Schwab Foundation granted more than $500,000 to organizations hosting Schwab employee volunteers.

Every holiday season, we put our spirit of service to work by giving back to the communities we call home through our Season of Giving program.

In 2023, Schwabbies focused on providing hunger relief by packaging 512,000 nutritious meals and collecting thousands of pounds of food to distribute to communities nationwide.

Recognizing that hunger relief is a year-round need, Charles Schwab Foundation donated $750,000 to local food banks and nonprofits focused on food insecurity in the communities we call home.

Employee dollars go further

Schwabbies are generous. In addition to their time and talents, our people regularly donate to their favorite nonprofits and causes. We celebrate these efforts through our matching gift program.

Charles Schwab Foundation matches employee donations to eligible nonprofits up to $1,000 each year, with an additional $1,000 match for those who serve on a nonprofit board.

Changing futures through corporate philanthropy

Schwab is passionate about supporting local causes and charitable activities, especially those that support financial literacy. We channel that passion by providing grants, corporate sponsorships, and disaster relief funding to a variety of nonprofits through Charles Schwab Foundation.
