Methodology
Investor's Business Daily (IBD) determines its Best Online Brokers 2026 rankings using a two-phase customer satisfaction and sentiment survey conducted in collaboration with data analytics firm Magid.
- Phase 1: Attribute Weighting: IBD identifies which features and service categories matter most to DIY and retail investors.
- Phase 2: Customer Scoring: Thousands of U.S. investors rate their primary online brokerage across these performance attributes.
- Index Calculation: Individual ratings and attribute weights are compiled to create an Overall Customer Experience Index score for each broker.

The Investor's Business Daily® 2026 Best Online Brokers accolade was published on January 23, 2026. Results were based on a quantitative online survey of 4,000 investors conducted by Investor's Business Daily and Magid between November 4 and November 17, 2025.
