The 2025 Simpson Cup concluded at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club with Team Great Britain securing a dramatic victory over Team USA in a closely contested match that ended 12-7.

More than a golf tournament, the Simpson cup is a celebration of resilience, camaraderie, and international unity. Named after John Simpson, a former sports agent who lost his leg after a battle with polio as a child, the event brings together teams of 13 injured veterans from the United States and Great Britain for a Ryder Cup-style competition each year. The athletes, many of whom have overcome life-altering injuries themselves, demonstrate extraordinary skill and determination on the course.

Support for veterans: The On Course Foundation and Schwab

The tournament is organized by the On Course Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering injured veterans through golf and career opportunities in the golf industry and backed by the support of Charles Schwab as a sponsor.

This year, Schwab continued its tradition of hosting On Course Foundation members at the Charles Schwab Challenge, where veterans participated in a golf skills clinic and worked behind the scenes throughout tournament week—experiences designed to build confidence and gain experience in the golf industry. John’s vision—to marry golf and goodwill—has grown into a transformative movement that empowers veterans on both sides of the Atlantic.
