Executive Vice President, Schwab Asset Management Solutions, and Chief Executive Officer, Schwab Investment Management, Inc.
Rick Wurster is Head of Schwab Asset Management Solutions, the asset management arm of The Charles Schwab Corporation. Schwab Asset Management Solutions manages or supports more than $2 trillion of client assets and provides money management and portfolio advice solutions, wealth management services, financial research and market insights. Wurster also serves as CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. (CSIM) – the investment adviser to the Schwab Funds, Laudus Funds, Schwab ETFs, and equity and fixed income separate account strategies – as well as CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Advisory, Inc. (CSIA).
Before his current role, he served as CEO of ThomasPartners, Inc. and Windhaven Investment Management, Inc. prior to their integration into CSIA. Before joining Schwab, Wurster spent ten years at Wellington Management where he was the portfolio manager of several products that leveraged his expertise in fundamental, quantitative, and technical analysis across global asset classes as well as his expertise in portfolio construction and risk management.
Earlier in his career, Wurster worked at McKinsey & Company where he was a leader of the asset management practice and an Associate Principal. He served the senior management of asset managers, institutional investors, private equity firms, and insurance companies with investment, strategic, and operational direction.
Wurster earned a Master of Business Administration from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a Bachelor of Science in economics from Villanova University. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) designations. He also serves on the investment committee for both the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation.
