Executive Vice President, Schwab Asset Management Solutions
Rick Wurster leads the Schwab Asset Management Solutions group which manages and supports more than $2 trillion of client assets and provides money management and portfolio advice solutions, financial research and market commentary. The group includes Asset Management Client Solutions, Charles Schwab Investment Management, Charles Schwab Investment Advisory, and Schwab Center for Financial Research.
Prior to leading Schwab Asset Management Solutions, Wurster served as the CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Advisory (CSIA). Previously, he led ThomasPartners Investment Management and Windhaven Investment Management, eventually merging them into CSIA to create an integrated registered investment advisor.
Previously, Wurster spent ten years at Wellington Management where he was the portfolio manager of several products that leveraged his expertise in fundamental, quantitative, and technical analysis across global asset classes as well as his expertise in portfolio construction and risk management. He also had broader leadership responsibilities and spent time as a leader of the asset allocation business, served on the firm’s technology leadership committee and was a member of Wellington’s equity review group which provided investment oversight and guidance for the firm’s equity strategies.
Prior to Wellington, Wurster worked at McKinsey & Company where he was a leader of the asset management practice and an Associate Principal. He served the senior management of asset managers, institutional investors, private equity firms, and insurance companies with investment, strategic, and operational direction.
Wurster earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Villanova University and has an MBA degree from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) designations.
